Summer SD Campus

From July 20th to 24th, Summer SD Campus took place, a platform where the current social processes are rethought and the search for progressive solutions to the most pressing problems of today takes place. This unique format of the event was created for the purpose of free training, development and realization of personal opportunities for active young people from all corners of Ukraine.

Why now? War is a strong challenge for all of us. Ukrainian society united to oppose the enemy both at the front and in the backline. Hundreds of enterprises, educational and healthcare institutions were destroyed. Cities were completely destroyed and millions of displaced people lost their jobs and homes. Significant state expenditures on defense and security. After the war, experts are already predicting a demographic catastrophe. With the beginning of a full-scale war, the past life is no more existing, and the former plans and dreams remained only a memory in a notebook.

However, life goes on and now we have to think one step ahead and plan for the restoration of Ukraine. What is our Campus about? Recovery programs are already being developed, but there is still a lack of understanding of how it will all work in real life, not on paper. What should be the recovery strategy of Ukraine? How to survive in new conditions and restore a sense of security for everyone? Where will the money for reconstruction be raised and who exactly will be in priority: people who have lost their homes, displaced persons, families of military, small entrepreneurs, or again the oligarchs, their influence groups, agricultural monopolists and developers?

The following foreign guests acted at Campus as speakers:

Iratxe García Pérez, Head of the S&D Group in the European Parliament

Marcel Röthig, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Ukraine

Johannes Shraps, Member of the Bundestag, speaker on Ukraine
