On October 4, 2021, a Memorandum on cooperation to prevent gender discriminatory advertising was signed between the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the Industrial Gender Committee for Advertising (IGCA), which operates under the NGO "Ukrainian Marketing Association" and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office in Ukraine. The signatories of the Memorandum have a history of cooperation in combating sexism in advertising. The Ukrainian Marketing Association initiated the development and adoption of a Standard of Gender Non-Discriminatory Advertising in Ukraine, which was signed by all leading professional associations of marketers and advertisers. The project was implemented in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine. Nowadays, the criteria developed in the Standard are the basis for defining discriminatory advertising in the law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine On Advertising to Combat Discrimination on the Grounds of Sex" (# 3427). The signing of the Memorandum will provide an opportunity to deepen cooperation between the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of Ukraine and the Industrial Gender Committee on Advertising. It continues the effective cooperation in developing new tools for interaction of state executive bodies and civil society with advertising and marketing industry.
