On November 27, 2020 the Hackathon of Progressive Teachers took place in Kyiv with the support of the Representation of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine. The event was held in mixed format: online and offline (for the team of organizers).
After a brief introduction, the organizing team and the participants had a session to summarize the work of the Progressive teachers during 2020. Participants noted a high level of activities and experience gained throughout the year.
During the panel discussion "How do educators survive in times of quarantine?" there was a lively discussion of the problems caused by the pandemic crisis that arised during the educational process. Possibilities of solving these problems and mitigating the consequences of their impact on the educational process were also discussed.
The Hackathon was also used for working groups in four areas: formats, analytics, fundraising and communication which helped to generate new ideas and plans for future work in 2021. Working in teams provided an opportunity to unite participants of common interests, which encourages further active involvement in the implementation of the projects.
According to the participants’ survey, 78% of participants rated their work as excellent (on a 5-point scale), 22% rated their work as good. 87% of participants rated the results of their group work as excellent, 13% were completely satisfied with the group work. Participants also noted a high level of motivation and effective communication during the event.
More than 90% of participants indicated that they are ready to join subsequent activities of the Progressive teachers.
