International and Ukrainian Experience in Preventing the Distribution of Sexist Advertising: Collaboration of Advertising Consumers with the Judicial Branch

On January 31, 2020, the seminar "International and Ukrainian Experience in Preventing the Distribution of Sexist Advertising: Collaboration of Advertising Consumers with the Judicial Branch" was held within the framework of cooperation between the Industrial Gender Committee on Advertising (IGCA), the All-Ukrainian Association of Women-Judges and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office in Ukraine.

The seminar was attended by judges of the administrative, appellate and cassation courts of Kyiv, representatives of the IGCA and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

Real-life examples of gender-discriminatory advertising were presented and analyzed, several court cases were discussed and proposals concerning amendments to the Law on Advertising were reviewed. Furthermore, an algorithm for further interaction was developed, and a decision was made to create methodological materials for court employees on the issue.
